Tratak is a Shatkarma (purification) and Dharana (concentration) practice involving steady, unblinking gazing at a fixed point — traditionally a candle flame (Bahiranga Tratak). The practice strengthens eye muscles, improves vision, sharpens concentration, and purifies the tear ducts and conjunctiva. Tratak also calms the mind, improves willpower, and is used as a preparatory practice for deeper meditation. Regular practice benefits individuals with weak eyesight, poor focus, and anxiety.
