Lep (herbal paste) application on the chest and throat involves preparing a warm or cool medicinal paste from herbs such as Tulsi, Ginger, Haridra (turmeric), and Vasaka, and applying it over the chest and throat region. The herbal actives penetrate the skin and act on the bronchial tubes, trachea, and throat tissues. It is effective for bronchitis, chest congestion, sore throat, tonsillitis, and chronic cough. The paste is kept for 20–30 minutes.
