Karana Lepanan involves the application of a freshly prepared herbal medicinal paste (Lepa) around the external ear, pinna, and surrounding areas. The paste is prepared from anti-inflammatory and analgesic herbs. It is used for ear pain, swelling, inflammation of the outer ear (otitis externa), and insect bites. The paste is kept for 20–30 minutes to allow deep absorption of herbal actives.
