Aasthapan Basti (also called Niruha Basti) is a therapeutic herbal decoction enema considered the most important Basti treatment in Panchakarma. A combination of herbal decoction, honey, rock salt, medicated oil, and herbal paste is administered rectally to cleanse the large intestine and eliminate deep-seated Vata dosha toxins. It is highly effective for chronic constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, neurological disorders, paralysis, and autoimmune conditions. It is often administered in courses of 8, 15, or 30 sessions.
